hello

I'm Kendra, and I'm a grandmaster yoga teacher.

I work with activists, organizers, and caregivers who are burnt out, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their bodies, and support them in building sustainable, grounded practices so they can continue their work without losing themselves. I train yoga teachers to decolonize their practices, and I support
individuals navigating trauma, identity, and systemic pressure who are interested in self-reclamation and self-liberation work

I offer classes online, and I share my gifts in-person at my studio, which is situated on unceded kʷikʷəƛ̓əm territory, colloquially known as Port Coquitlam.

My Pedgaogy for
Teaching Yoga

As someone who is Black, queer, neurodivergent, and a survivor of sexual violence, I am committed to bodily sovereignty and body liberation. I understand what it means to live and organize within systems that were not built for us. My work centers the people most impacted by those systems and is grounded in a Kashmiri Shaiva / Non-dual Tantric understanding that the body is not an obstacle to awakening or healing, but a gateway into deeper self-awareness, connection, and liberation.

Most traditions we see in the West, which stem from the Samkhya tradition, frame the body and mind as something to transcend, and many Western yoga teachers are only exposed to this one yogic philosophy; Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the eight limbs of yoga. But yoga is rich and diverse in philosophies on the nature of consciousness.

The lineage I descend through understands embodied experience as part of the path itself. Breath, sensation, emotion, rest, movement, and relationship are not distractions from the work — they are the work. Personal and collective liberation are not separate.

Practically speaking, this informs every aspect of my pedagogy and teaching style. I do not see my students as broken or in need of fixing. I see them as people with existing capacity, insight, and intuitive knowing, who may be disconnected from those internal resources due to the conditions they live in.

My role as a teacher is to support you in rebuilding trust with your body, accessing what is already present within you, and cultivating the freedom to meet yourself fully in the here and now, while offering structure, tools, and guidance where needed.

What I Offer
Meditation practice for stress relief and emotional regulation

What I Offer

A decolonized, trauma-informed yoga practice requires moving away from extraction, perfectionism, and the idea that yoga is something we need to perform. Instead, I encourage students to move toward self-knowing, agency, self-consent, and sustainability in practice.

Through our work together, I'll support you to:

  • reconnect to your body in a way that feels safe and accessible

  • regulate your nervous system and recover from chronic stress

  • build practices that are sustainable within the reality of your life

  • deepen understanding, develop clarity, discernment, and emotional capacity

We may work with movement, breath, meditation, storytelling, reflective practices and philosophical frameworks, but always in a way that meets you where you are.
