The Full Story
About Me
I am a sādhaki (one who is on the path of self-actualization), tantric yoga grandmaster (I teach yoga to yoga teachers up to the 500hr level), 1-on-1 mindfulness coach, and multi-disciplinary artist. I live and share my gifts on unceded Coast Salish territory, most often the traditional lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, səl̓ílwətaɬ, kʷikʷəƛ̓əm, Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm and Stó:lō people, and teach globally, online.
My Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy is influenced and informed by the teachings of Abhinavagupta and Sri Aurobindo which focus on a non-dualist Tantric approach to liberation and well-being. Namely, that our individual experiences are not separate from the collective consciousness, therefore our personal liberation cannot be separated from collective liberation.
I do not believe that my students are "broken", "missing something" or in need of "fixing" or "repair".
I firmly believe that my students contain within them:
Chit-shakti - an innate consciousness/inner awareness
Ananda-shakti - an internal motivation towards the subtle bliss of love & harmony
Iccha-shakti - a natural impulse towards their own expansion and evolution
Kriya-shakti - agency and the desire move in alignment with their own highest good
Jnana-shakti - the wisdom of collective consciousness and an innate knowing about their place in the world.
I believe my role as a yoga teacher is to support my students with the development and expansion of their own consciousness by providing them with access to spaces, practices, tools, and teachings that help them engage with the full breadth of their own wisdom and inner resources.
What I Offer
I offer my students space and opportunities to encounter themselves and deepen their relationship and connection to self. This looks like:
-
Meeting them where they are with practices that can support them in states of contraction, expansion or the liminal space between.
-
Creating space to pause, rest, reflect, feel, or self-observe.
-
Encouraging curiosity through self-inquiry, and contemplative practice.
-
Assisting the development of personal spiritual practice or ritual where requested and desired.
Some of the resources and tools we might explore or develop together could be:
-
A deeper connection to the body through asana (slow intentional movement)
-
Emotional regulation and connected to the subtle through pranayama (breathwork) and pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses)
-
Improving mental clarity, increasing capacity for discernment pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana, (meditation) dhyana (contemplative practice), jnana
(philosophical dialogue and dialectics). I also support folks through the process of ego-death & rebirth, and the development of personal spiritual practice and ritual.
What I Offer
My work occurs at the intersection of individual well-being and collective liberation.
As a mentor to individual practitioners and yoga teachers: I support the process of deepening one's relationship to self, others, and the land through a multitude of practices including asana (self observation via somatic movement), pranayama (breathwork), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana, (meditation) dhyana (contemplative practice), jnana (philosophical dialogue and dialectics). I also support folks through the process of ego-death & rebirth, and the development of personal spiritual practice and ritual.
As a facilitator who works with organizations of all sizes: to create safer spaces for folks who experience marginalization and systemic violence to explore agency, connect inwards and practice self-liberation, through a multitude of workshops and keynote talks.
I strive to combat white supremacy, and the colonization, gentrification, and misappropriation of yoga by keeping it accessible to all and honouring the practices as taught to me by those who have come before.
My Teaching Philosophy
My personal healer philosophy is largely informed by traditional Tantric practice, and the teachings of Abhinavagupta, Sri Aurobindo which focus on a non-dualist approach to liberation and well-being, namely that our individual experiences are not separate from the collective consciousness, therefore our personal liberation cannot be separated from collective liberation.
I come to this lineage as a direct disciple of Swami Vidyanand and Swami Durgananda
